My approach to public policy begins with an understanding that many of the ills in our society can be traced back to childhoods. And so a key interest of mine is discovering how we might ensure that every child has a healthy childhood. This will require education reform, health care reform, and reform of our policies governing families.
Some other causes near to my heart:
- the abolition of the death penalty
- obtaining equal rights for LGBT citizens
I am a libertarian who likes big social programs for things like health care and education. Our freedom isn't worth very much if we don't have the health and education to enjoy it.
I am a vegetarian on my way to becoming vegan.
