At present, I volunteer tutoring refugees, and believe in working for a better world, no matter whether I live to enjoy the benefits.
I cannot conceive of not being active in this world, and feel that I do not choose activism, but rather that it chooses me.
I find there is something in almost everything I do that can have a bearing on creating a better world eventually, but try not to take anything too seriously.
I am an historian and archivist, former chef and musician. I collect central asian embroidery and enjoy oriental carpets and Islamic design.

I am a food explorer, and worship at the altar of ethnic food at least twice every weekend.

I try to keep my environmental footprint small, but try hard not let my ideals get in the way of my enjoyment--looking for my reward and to enjoy this life.
