Changing the political system?

`I don't understand how you can say that anarchy is built on consensus or democracy. Anarchy is the absence of rules. Democracy is majority rule of the people.

While I believe that our current governmental systems are quite broken - I don't think it is time to throw the baby out with the bathwater. After years and years of voter apathy and looking the other way, we have let our once admirable government get so big and so powerful... kinda reminds me of the staypuff marshmellow man in Ghostbusters. We took something great and turned it into a giant monster. While I don't think in today's world we should have to fight that monster with weapons... I know we can't continue to run and hide and let it trample our freedoms. Reforms are necessary. Major reforms. But they may need to start at the local levels first.
The biggest obstacle isn't corruption in politics - it is the apathy of Americans.

`I agree with what you both have said..I find it sad that (as example only..) you have a choice between parties here..bought and sold by some mega corp. and having to choose not between 2 candidates so much..as who is going to just not make things that much worse. The political system has almost become it's own massive entity. And the most disheartening thing for me to deal with in this in this society is the total lack of respect for kindness and gentleness. You're seen as weak!..as opposed to being "strong in character"..It makes me tired.

`It is broken in the sense that even thou it is lead by a minority, it is still unfair to minorities like Gays, Native Americans, Native Hawaians, Handicapped people and the enviroment.

What America needs to start doing is telling the truth instead of hiding things from their own people and other countries like Project " This and that "

It may be trying to hide the truth only for the protection of its people but for what, the safety of other countries.

American Govt needs to be more honest and have a " All windows open for all to see "" Policy

`The government has set itself into a specific order of function which includes corruption and unconstitutional actions. It's always possible to "fix" it but it would take a complete make over of the opinion of our politicians by changing their ideal's or the entire next generation of politicians have to have what's best for the people at heart. Unfortunately the likely hood of anything of the sort happening is about the same as finding a football field of 10-leaf-clovers.
The best way to make a change is by standing up and using our voice. We as a people need to look the politicians in the face and tell them what we want other wise it won't get done. We have to make noise to help inform people of who they electing because the general voting population base their voting decisions off of the last minute PR stunts that go on.
One of my professors made a really great point about politicians and it is that they have only two rules, get elected and get reelected.
